29 October 2026 - Happy Halloween from Fairground Hire

The pumpkins are glowing, the costumes are ready and Halloween is almost here! From everyone at Fairground Hire, we'd like to wish our customers, event organisers and fellow fairground enthusiasts a very Happy Halloween.

It's the time of year when familiar places take on a slightly spooky appearance. Village halls become haunted hideaways, fairgrounds glow against the autumn sky and even the friendliest ghost can make someone jump when they're least expecting it.

For us, Halloween is a particularly enjoyable occasion because fairgrounds have always had a wonderfully spooky side.

Ghost Trains, Haunted Houses and Fairground Frights

There's something about a traditional fairground after dark that makes it the perfect setting for Halloween. Flashing lights, music, mysterious noises and the anticipation of what's waiting around the next corner all add to the atmosphere.

Our Ghost Train is a classic example of this. Visitors climb aboard and travel through a series of eerie scenes, with surprises waiting along the way.

For those who prefer to explore their spooky surroundings, our Ghost House offers another way to bring Halloween entertainment to an event.

And then there's the Mirror Maze, where reflections and unexpected turns can be confusing enough in broad daylight, let alone when you're in the Halloween spirit!

These attractions are popular choices for organisers looking to introduce a haunted fairground theme to seasonal celebrations.

A Halloween Fairground Doesn't Have to Be Terrifying

Not everybody wants to spend Halloween being frightened, particularly younger children.

That's one of the advantages of fairground entertainment. You can create a seasonal event with a mixture of gentle activities, traditional attractions and something a little more adventurous for older visitors.

A Tea Cups ride or traditional children's carousel can provide entertainment for families, while Helter Skelter brings a distinctive fairground feature to the occasion.

For those who enjoy a bit more excitement, Waltzers and dodgems can keep the atmosphere lively.

Add a few pumpkins, creative costumes and suitable decorations, and you've got the ingredients for a Halloween event that doesn't rely entirely on scares.

Traditional Fairground Games With a Halloween Twist

Halloween also provides plenty of opportunities for themed competitions and family activities.

Our fairground stalls and games can fit into an autumn event alongside rides and inflatables.

A Hook A Duck stall can be part of a family activity area, while Coconut Shy and Hoopla offer traditional challenges for visitors wanting to test their aim.

Event organisers can introduce their own Halloween themes through prizes, signage and decorations, provided these don't interfere with the safe operation of the equipment.

There's plenty of scope for a little friendly competition between the witches, vampires, skeletons and superheroes!

Keeping Halloween Events Safe

With Halloween parties, autumn fairs and community celebrations often taking place after dark, planning is especially important.

Good lighting, clear pedestrian routes and suitable access to attractions all help events run smoothly. Organisers should also consider the weather, ground conditions and how visitors will move around the site.

Where candles, lanterns, bonfires or other open flames form part of a celebration, they must be kept well away from rides, inflatables, generators, electrical equipment and combustible decorations. Battery-operated LED lighting is a practical alternative for many Halloween displays.

Fairground Hire can discuss suitable equipment and site arrangements with organisers planning seasonal events, including additional event services where required.

Thank You for Being Part of Our Fairground Year

Halloween is also a good opportunity for us to thank the schools, councils, businesses, community groups and private customers who have worked with Fairground Hire throughout the year.

With more than 40 years of fairground experience, we're fortunate to be involved in such a varied selection of occasions, from small local celebrations to major public events.

Whether you've enjoyed a ride on one of our carousels, taken on a fairground game or organised an event featuring our attractions, we appreciate your support.

And while Halloween marks one of the spookier dates in the calendar, our work continues throughout the seasons, helping organisers plan funfair rides, inflatables and entertainment for events around the UK.

Have a Fang-tastic Halloween!

However you're celebrating this year, whether you're heading out trick-or-treating, visiting a local Halloween event, dressing up for a party or enjoying a quiet evening with a suitably spooky film, we hope you have a fantastic time.

Happy Halloween from everyone at Fairground Hire!

Stay safe, enjoy the festivities and watch out for things that go bump in the night.
